Monday:
Wednesday:
- Reflecting on last night’s Sermon, why did we start this year of camp talking about the blood of the Lamb?
- What significance did the blood of a lamb have for ancient Israel? What significance for us today?
- Discuss the idea of substitution in the Old Covenant vs the New Covenant. Why is the New better? How does the New Covenant transform?
- Reflect on Romans 5:6-8. How can we feel unworthy of love when God loves us this much?
- God knew we were unworthy, but STILL chose to MAKE us worthy by the blood of the lamb. The transformation came from Him, not me. What’s good in me didn’t come from me, but from Him.
- That humbles us, and we turn that humility into a testimony and ministry to the goodness and faithfulness and WORTHINESS of Jesus.
- Have you ever felt like you weren’t enough? Unworthy? Undeserving?
- Where do these feelings come from? What do you think causes them? Is it your own feelings? Other’s words or tone? Uncomfortable situations? Grades? Sports? College? High expectations? Etc?
- These negative feelings and thoughts come from our enemy, who is very effective at planting seeds of doubt and feelings of unworthiness. Causing us to focus in the wrong place.
- We may not ever be able to fully get rid of this feeling, but we can certainly strengthen our ability to close that door. Even if only for a moment.
- But God’s word speaks directly to us when we’re caught in this spiral.
- “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you. He will never leave or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”- Deuteronomy 31:8
- “You are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you.”- Isaiah 43:4
- “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.”- John 15:9
- Unworthy is the exact opposite of how God sees you, so be at peace knowing that you ARE worthy!
Wednesday:
- Reflecting on last night’s Sermon, what is the difference between Sanctification and Separation?
- Why did pharisees think separation made them holy? How did that make other people feel?
- God didn’t quarantine Himself from humanity. He got involved. He dwelt among us.
- God continues to make Himself more and more vulnerable in order to dwell with His people. (The garden, the tabernacle, the temple, the incarnation of Jesus, and the indwelling Holy Spirit.)
- Jesus didn’t shun sinners or separate Himself from them. He got close to them and He invited them in. He attempted to make them holy thru His holiness. How can we follow His example today?
- 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
- Who are you surrounding yourself with? Who is your support group?
- It is far easier to be dragged down mentally and spiritually if you are surrounded with negative people.
- Hebrews 10:23-25, 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He Who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
- This shows us the importance of surrounding ourselves with good people who have our best interest in mind.
- If we constantly feel unworthy, we may need to question who we are surrounding ourselves with. We should seek groups that help our souls to flourish, that encourage our spiritual walks with Christ, and help us to seek His kingdom in all things.
- Reflecting on last night’s Sermon, what hard situations do you have waiting for you at home?
- There’s nothing we go thru that God isn’t aware of. He is right there with us in our storms and suffering. He has not abandoned us.
- John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
- He promised us that this life would give us trouble.
- In Matthew 28:20, His final words in Matthew’s Gospel, he says, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
- You don’t face these things alone. And Romans 8 takes that promise even further.
- Romans 8:18 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
- Not only is He with us, but He also promises that what’s coming next is BETTER than what we’re going through.
- How can we make sure to stay focused on this when we go home tomorrow? What can we do to help? How can we pray for you?
